A few things to pass along...
NEW HOOPS ADDITION:
- With Gardner-Webb forward Jamaine Mann's commitment and impending addition to the roster, that puts the Commodores at 12 scholarship players total as they are holding onto the last one in case Scotty Pippen, Jr. returns.
TAFITI COLLEGE DECISION TIMELINE:
- The four-star linebacker target told me that he plans to make his college decision by mid-September. He's coming off his official to Vanderbilt and has two more planned for Stanford and Washington later this month.
NEW OFFERS COMING OUT OF LAST WEEKEND'S CAMPS:
- Commodores extended a couple of new offers today. Both 2023 prospects competed at this weekend's Elite Camps on West End, so the staff is still looking at testing numbers and evaluating film coming out of the weekend. I mentioned Symonds in my post camp report on Sunday as a guy that really stood out at left tackle.
OL TARGET VISITING AGAIN THIS WEEKEND:
Siegel is an offensive line target that started his June off with a trip to Vanderbilt for their invite-only Commodore Cookout event. He'll return to West End this weekend for an official visit. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound prospect has worked out for Penn State and most recently Rutgers, but hasn't received an offer from either so far. He is planning to visit Illinois unofficially on the 22nd and has an official to Duke on the 24th.
INTRIGUING VISITOR IN TOWN:
- Malaska is in town and will visit with Vanderbilt on Thursday. Very likely he'll workout for the staff in hopes of earning an offer. The three-star prospect has been talking to the staff for over two months now, so there is a lot of familiarity on both sides here. Malaska has visited a lot of schools since June began and has picked up recent offers from SMU and has an official visit scheduled with Texas Tech for June 25th.
NEW 2022 HOOPS OFFER:
- Mentioned Dia in a recent basketball recruiting update. He's a guy that Vanderbilt wants to bring in for an official visit this summer. The 6-foot-8 forward is known for being a smooth shooter with outside range that can also spread the floor offensively to go along with his rebounding ability. St. John's, Nebraska, TCU, Creighton are other schools in the mix here.
