- Talked with Stokes earlier this evening. he's just coming off an official visit to Missouri and took an official to Vanderbilt the first weekend in June. The three-star is going to take all of his visits, so don't expect a commitment from him anytime soon. I would expect his recruitment to go into his senior season. But, he gave his visit to Vanderbilt rave reviews. He spoke highly of the coaching staff and being able to hang out with their entire families throughout the weekend. He also really likes Vandy's pro-style offense and how they plan to utilize their running backs. Vandy sees him as an every-down back, which is also appealing to him.
I'll have more on Stokes tomorrow
- Got some initial feedback from Tafiti from his time on West End this past weekend. He told me the thing that really stuck out with him was the "home" feeling in having dinner with the coaching staff and their families. He said family is big with him. He also mentioned the culture surrounding the program is another thing that stood out. Vandy likes him at the STAR position, a linebacker that can rush the edge and drop back into coverage. Waiting to get some more responses from him, when I do, I'll post a story. Obviously, Vanderbilt is going to be a main player here given his relationship with Clark Lea that dates back to last summer when he was at Notre Dame. Stanford and Washington is the main competition for the four-star prospect, he has visit scheduled there later this month.
- Also chatted with Cowan, who camped at Vanderbilt on Saturday and picked up an offer from the staff today. Vandy is his first power five offer, so this is a big one. Cowan told me he is currently talking with the staff on setting up an official visit. While he's listed as a safety, he worked out at linebacker and said the staff likes him as an outside linebacker and depending on how much weight he gains, could move to inside linebacker. Cowan told me that he really loved the camp there and liked the vibe of the coaching staff and could see himself playing there.
- Klemm is another new 2022 target Vandy offered today. He is listed as a defensive end but also plays offensive tackle for his high school team as well. Interesting note, Jalen's father - Adrian - won three Super Bowls with the Patriots playing offensive tackle, so football is in the bloodlines. His father is also the current offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jalen has picked up offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, NC State, and others.
