The comeback story of Vanderbilt’s Philip Pfeifer needed a moment like this. A moment where someone who has struggled with life events had to be near-perfect to help will his team to an important 1-0 victory over TCU and get the Commodores into the CWS driver’s seat

Zander Wiel doesn’t always get his due. He can get lost in the shuffle on a team with a pair of charismatic stars who were drafted in the top 10 overall picks, plus another first-rounder and two more players drafted in the third round. Somehow, Wiel slipped to the 12th, even though he was one of the most prolific hitters in the Southeastern Conference this year.

On the season, Wright has compiled a 6-1 record with four saves. He has a minuscule 1.01 ERA in 53.2 innings and has allowed only 30 hits.
