As I sit here continuing to try to learn more Spanish, and simultaneously sit by my antique rotary dial phone secured via landline anxiously awaiting a call from someone, somewhere to whom I am their father or maybe grandfather, we have arrived at the CWS day 3. [Odds are, however, it will just be a text message as my children are one Gen Xer and one Millennial and all the grandbabes are Gen Z or Alpha and those of those generations don’t yet know how to talk to someone live on the telephone.)
EDITOR’S NOTE: I would give out my phone number so someone pretending to be my son could call but some whippersnapper young person would just derisively call me a “boomer” and make fun of me for giving out my phone number on a message board and I fear that more than being struck by lightening on a sunny day so I won’t. But I will check my voicemail so it’s BR-549 and my burner phone # is 876-5309, area code Russia.
Day 1: super exciting and entertaining games
Day 2: boring, non-competive, a day to do your laundry or go outside and play ball with the dog
UCLA and LSU easily won yesterday because they had outstanding starting pitchers. Neither MSU or Arkansas could match that and their starters had “One big bad inning”, something that also plagued Vanderbilt at times.
Today, somebody goes home. Can you sing “redbirds croaking in the middle of the day?”
The important game pits CC vs. OSU and each is considered a potential champion.
All I ask for is that they be interesting games, I really don’t care who wins. Other than Arizona.
