After a cursory analysis my initial ratings, on a scale of 1-10, are as follows:
(for reference, top 6 teams would be a 1 -- OSU, NC, FL, LSU, TT, TCU... bottom 6 teams would be a 10 -- no idea who they are but I'm guessing Bethune-Cookman is one of them)
Clemson ... 3
Vandy ... 3-
St. Johns ... 6-
Greensboro ... 8-
The metrics I considered:
RPI, conference RPI, ISR, SOS, NPI, ELO, last 10 games, non-conference SOS, overall record, record vs. Top 50, record vs. Top 100, run differential, mascot, tuition, average GPA, # of National Merit Scholars (actually, I didn't use some of those but if I did Vandy's rating would likely go up)
Head-to-head with Clemson, it's really close actually.
They are only slightly ahead of us in RPI, ISR, record, SOS and NPI.
Vandy, however, is slightly ahead in last 10, vs. Top 50, run differential, non-conf SOS, and conference RPI.
Once I examine Clemson's roster and stats I'll have a better idea and can further refine my ratings by using tenths, perhaps hundredths.
