powerfully built tailback in the 5-10, 200 lb range; good student (Rotary Club Student of the Month last month); high character; strong family support; he crossed 2,000 yd mark for the season last night in his final game on a two win Greenville, Texas team, the smallest school in a northeast TX 5A district that includes East TX powerhouse Longview. Former VU TE Curt Brancheau was a Greenville HS product who played for the Dores in the early Cutler years.

Hale was hurt last season and finished with 600 plus yards and is therefore EXTREMELY under the radar. I don't even see him in the Rivals database. I've seen him unofficially connected with Air Force and SMU, but that's about all I can find. I could see Chad Morris bringing him in to SMU and Hale having a very good college career for the Ponies. But it seems like he could be tailor made for an Andy Ludwig offense. VU has a hard time recruiting good RB's, we need to be checking out every legit recruit we can, and Hale is legit.

Hale ran for 280 yards last night against Longview Pine Tree with four touchdowns on 21 carries to finish the season with 2,082 yards and 22 touchdowns on 229 carries for an average yards per carry of over 9 yards. Hale ran for touchdowns of 41, 48, 65 and 38 yards last night for the Lions, who finished at 2-8 and 1-6. Great production on a poor high school team (shades of Jordan Matthews). Not a player who piles up big numbers against overmatched opponents. Quite the opposite, Hale plays for the overmatched team and still puts up big numbers.

I don't know which assistants on the VU coaching staff recruit Texas (Coach Kenwick Thompson?), but that coach or those coaches should give Coach Marvin Sedberry a call if they haven't already and check out Carandal Hale. He could be the classic Jordan Matthews under-recruited two star that turns out to be a great college player.
