What do we think we look like next year? What positions do we need to attack the portal?
I anticipate losing the following hitters to the draft, portal or graduation:
Jayden Davis (transfer)
Maldonado (transfer)
Humphrey (grad)
Vastine (grad)
Ginther (grad)
JD Rogers (grad)
Riley Nelson (draft)
RJ Austin (draft)
Mac Rose (transfer)
RJ Hamilton (transfer)
Projected starters:
C: Barczi
1b: Max Jensen (cornell transfer)
2b: Mancini
SS:
3b: Johnston
Lf: Rigdon
Cf:
Rf: Holcomb
DH:
We could also keep Rigdon at 2b, but that leaves Mancini without a spot. Our DH really needs to be someone with some power. I am not sure if any of last year's freshman class is ready to step in to an everyday spot as we didnt see much of them this season and we won't know who is coming to campus from the current signing class until post draft. It looks like we will need at least 2, maybe 3 immediate starting portal bats.
