Out of curiosity and difficulty sleeping, I scrolled through Ken Pom to see what coaches are around who have been having success at the “mid-major” level, either currently or in the recent past who are now assistants or just hanging out. There are a lot. No idea whether they are actively seeking to move, but there’s a lot of talent out there.
I will add—gratuitously—that I would generally be in favor of Stack staying on one more year barring another terrible showing in the SEC. If Vandy only wins three or four total again, I don’t think one can reasonably point to any improvement. I’m assuming that ‘23 would feature the team they have now aside from players who will almost certainly move on or graduate (and barring unforeseen transfers in and out). It’s hard for me to say that a team featuring Liam Robbins, Jordan Wright, Shane Dezonie, and Tywin Lawrence—as they play now—is good enough to make up for the loss of Pippen.
