- Congrats to the team and staff. Been close and finally grinded out an SEC win. And I mean grinded - there were a lot of moments that had most fans experiencing deja vu but the team overcame it and held up.
- very impressed with Ludwig's gameplan and calling of the game. Thought he put both QBs in a position to succeed. The lead outside zone, especially to the weak side of the defense, was a nice wrinkle.
- special kudos to the OL, the TEs, and the backs. Thought the TEs especially had their best game run blocking of the season. And hopefully all the Webb critics will be quiet for a week; like most backs, he's better when he's not having to make his first cut or avoid a defender three yards deep in the backfield.
- one thing I've noticed this season is that (with exception of QB, which has issues beyond coaching) individual play has improved across the board. These guys are developing game-to-game and while much of that is experience, it also speaks to the staffs' ability as teachers and developers.
- Scheu, DH, and Pulley had very good games. Good to see the seniors stepping up.
- The concern about top end speed in the secondary showed a bit yesterday...expect Houston to test down the field early and often.
- I expressed before the season that I thought the Missouri game would be a good measuring stick for the team and Mason. It was ugly, but they pulled it out and gave us all some hope going forward - Missouri is a very flawed team, but there were a lot of chances for VU to fold yesterday and they didn't. Looking forward to heading to Houston this weekend.
