It has been fun to see some excitement around basketball again, and I realize the SEC schedule is going to be brutal this season. That being said....I've watched every game this season, and we have a large enough sample size that I am now officially concerned about the shooting with this team. This isn't just about last night, this has been all season, even in many of the blowout wins. It has been awful, and now defenses get stickier, and it will likely be more of a challenge.

Through 15 games, team 3 point shooting is at 32.4%. Based on the rankings prior to last night's games, that would put Vandy at about 250-ish in NCAA team shooting. McGlockton is LEADING THE TEAM at 38.5%.

There's no stat for this, but more concerning is how bad most of the misses are. And it's getting worse with feeling like there are more 3's being forced now, are not part of any ball rotation, just guys forcing up shots just trying to get something going. So I don't know if it's offense, lack of confidence, or that these guys just are not that good shooting the ball, or some combination.

There is enough fight and grit defensively that I think this team will seldom get blown out, but for the style they play, the 3-pt % has got to improve drastically or there are going to be a LOT of frustrating losses like last night. Miss St shot 37.5%, which is decent, not great by any means, but if Vandy would've just shot at that %, that would've been 15 more points, in what was a 12 point loss.
