So disheartening

99% of the time VU ends up with the same disheartening ending. Every year new hopes are dashed with the same old timeless mishaps/screwups. No matter the game, VU 99% of the time has one of the following to blow the game: a costly fumble, interception, stupid play (i.e., the safety), or the ever popular missed FG. It happens so much we can predict it. This missed FG seems to be the most popular of all the miscues and after each game we, as fans, try to find positives about the outcome. We were competitive, we played hard, if we just wouldn't have ______. You fill in the blank and we have said it but the games and season always end the same with a very depressing losing season. This has been the case since I started rooting for VU football 40 years ago. I am so tired. By the way, for all the fans who think we should go to a lower division (and on occasion I have said the same), we would only eventually sink to the bottom it after several years. Pavia has kept us in games and made us look competitive so far this year but we still cant win and will most likely finish 3-10 or 4-9. Next year, without him, we will again grasp at positives during fall camp but then have our hopes dashed as always!! Its hard to be a VU fan!!

What’s most telling

Even the folks still on the Clark bandwagon make points on how they have hope the team can win DESPITE CCL. Almost no arguments on how the team will win BECAUSE of CCL. Very telling - even if they don’t see it.

Unprepared teams, losing to bad teams, horrible record, never ending penalties, miserable defense, playing not to lose…that’s on the head coach.

Also, Pavia is amazing and it’s nice to watch him play this year.

3 or 4 plays away from a Top 15 Ranking

I'm frustrated just like many of us. The GSU loss is even more brutal after yesterday. But I just keep reminding myself that one stop at the end of that Georgia State game and one touchdown in the second OT of Mizzou and we're sitting at 4-0 (1-0) with a road win over a top 10 team. That would easily put us in the top 20, if not the top 15. That's how close we are.

Chances are we finish this year with 4 or so wins, but good grief the improvement is undeniable. Hopefully big money NIL folks see it as well.

Favorite play of the game

I'm just as annoyed/disappointed by this loss as everyone else, but there was one particular play that brought a smile to my face more than any other.

It was Christian James bull-rushing the Mizzou O-lineman, literally lifting him off his feet, and driving him into the QB.

I've been impressed with Stiner. He's brought significant change to our strength and conditioning. A stark contrast to Mason's first S&C coach who had the players doing yoga once a week.

This is why Gastate was unforgivable

If this was the fist loss after a 3-0 start we’d feel differently. This team could possibly win a couple of SEC games.

But thanks to that loss a couple won’t be enough. That was a blob on a 110 yard Par Three on a course with nothing but horrible Par 5s remaining.

Clark, who despite my enduring love, doesn’t seem to care about the W-L record and constantly leaves points on the course
