Audio PODCAST: A stunning upset at Rupp, a series win over UCLA

Luke Wyatt joins us to talk about Vanderbilt's stunning win over Kentucky at Rupp Arena despite the apparent loss of Liam Robbins. Some talk about that and NCAA tournament chances as well as Jerry Stackhouse's pushing all the right buttons of late. Also, Vanderbilt's first two weekends have provided it a big leg up in postseason seeding, plus, how the Commodores appear to have the kind of pitching depth that works well for three-game series (and beyond).

KPI and SoR

These are the two results based metrics and VU is 47th and 55th.
And VU currently has a SoS of 16 based on the NET.

If you have hope there it is. Hope the committee sees these and discounts the predictive metrics and maybe just maybe looks at conf record and how VU finished especially considering their overall SoS. IF and I mean IF they win over MSU then don’t lose to one of the bottom 4 in the SEC tourney.

It’s really that simple. I’m not sure there is a case out there where they’ve done this but also I think there is some logic in the above.

If I was VU I’d wait to see if they can somehow beat MSU. If they do I’d be sending this info to every national bracket guru and every comittee member.

I’d also ask the question has any power conf team ever finished 4 games above 500 in conference and at least 4 or 5 gsmes over 500 overall with a top 20 SoS and not made the tourney. Have they. I highly doubt it.

Today's spring practice coverage coming up

I had to miss the first hour of practice this morning due to my other work responsibilities outside the ones at this site, but, I did see about an hour and 15 minutes and took plenty of notes. And also, I was the only media person there so it's as good as it's going to get for what you need to know today anyway.

Also, video interviews with BJ Anderson and Justin Ludwig are also coming.

It’s time…

I think it’s honestly time to start thinking about the possibility of Stackhouse getting another job. This stretch has been remarkable. 10-8 and possibly 11-7 in the SEC has him some really positive momentum as a head coach. Could this be the year he gets serious looks, or is it still too early? It’s obvious the man can coach basketball. There is no doubting that

Can You Imagine This System with 4 & 5 Stars???

We didn't shoot it particuarly well tonight but man, our offense is fun to watch. For anyone that says Stackhouse is horrible or incompetent, just dismiss their opinions immediately. They are what is known as a "numbnuts".

If he ever figures out the recruiting part of it via NIL or bringing in a stud recruiter, look out because he is coaching circles around the rest of the league on the offensive end. Chess and checkers.

Stack--go get us some 5 Stars and let's start cutting down some nets!

Anyone who...

If any one of you does not like Jerry Stackhouse as our mbb coach needs to watch his press conference with Jordan Wright after the KY win.

Stackhouse is a tough guy....a proud guy that cares deeply about his players and this program....I have always hoped his toughness would rub off on his teams and I believe it has....but he really does care about this team and it is showing.

And when he was blocking people....I personally thought it was rather funny.

FB Recruiting 2024 OL Matty Augustine talks Commodores

I caught up with Vanderbilt target Matty Augustine. He's an interesting offensive lineman. He has only played for two years, and he also plays basketball. He's 6-foot-7 and has plenty of athleticism. If you read the story, he loves Blazek. Vanderbilt has a good shot here.

Thank you Liam Robbins

What you have done this season, especially during "the streak" has been amazing. For a number of weeks, you were arguably the best player in the country. You played with extreme grit, not giving up plays, and fighting for every block, rebound, and point. You've shown leadership and really held the team together throughout. If tonight was your last game in the black and gold, it was a great one. You will be remembered as a classic Commodore. I wish you the best in your pro career, and I hope you will always consider yourself part of this program. We are all in debt to you.

Thanks!

Timeout not taken

As I watched this replay, it struck me how with 14 seconds remaining (the 27:30 mark of the vid) as Manjon crossed half court he looked to Jerry who then told him to play on. UK looked like they were expecting the TO so Ezra driving threw them off, allowing the pass to Jordan and ultimately the game winning shot. Jerry's feeling it right now!!!
