Tony Vitello was suspended following his ejection in Tennessee baseball's 9-2 win against Alabama on Saturday.
Vitello will not coach Sunday in the finale of Tennessee's series against Alabama. Neither will pitching coach Frank Anderson, who was ejected prior to Vitello. UT is still awaiting word from the SEC and NCAA regarding potential additional discipline stemming from the ejections.
Hitting coach Josh Elander will serve as the acting head coach with Vitello and Anderson suspended. Anderson, who was ejected prior to Vitello, received an automatic one-game suspension as an assistant coach.
It is Vitello's second suspension in his five seasons as the UT coach. He received a two-game suspension in March 2018 during UT's series against Kentucky.
