- First off, a solid get for the Commodores simply because Sherrill is a guy they evaluated back in the fall, gave him his first offer, and never wavered from their pursuit. They got the guy they wanted, plus he's an in-state talent on a high school squad that's stacked with talent. Get a guy like Sherrill, that can only help out with the likes of Kaleb Beasley, who's already been on Vandy's campus a ton.

- After playing mostly running back throughout his high school career, Sherrill made an impact at wide receiver last year for a Lipscomb Academy team that went 12-1 on the season and defeated CPA 27-0 in the DII-AA State Championship game. Sherrill hauled in 75 catches for 870 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. Vanderbilt likes him a versatile weapon like we've seen incoming freshman Jayden McGowan being used during the spring practice sessions - a dynamic athlete that has speed and is shifty that can line up as an inside and outside receiver and running back as well. Vanderbilt desperately needs that kind of athleticism on their roster, particularly at the skill positions.

- Now, the reality is Vanderbilt didn't have a ton of competition when it came to Sherrill's recruiting process. The Commodores were his only power five offer. Ball State, Charlotte, Liberty, Troy, Middle Tennessee, and Western Kentucky are all programs Vanderbilt should beat out for a prospect. Current Vanderbilt commits Duran Parish, Cooper Starks, and Kelvon McBride also fit a similar profile that Vanderbilt was also their only power five offer. Going back to last year's class - Bryce Cowan, Linus Zunk, Levi Harber, Jayden McGowan, Walter Taylor, Jameson Wharton, and Andrew Paige were all signees where Vanderbilt was their only power five offer.

Prospects like Sherrill and the rest of the names mentioned above is where we'll see just how good Vanderbilt's evaluations will be and how well coaches can develop talent in the next two to three years down the road.
