Some on here put Scotty Walden on their "Hot Board" list. Apparently he is leaving Austin Peay to go to UTEP. He is from Texas so it makes sense.
For those not familiar, he is a young, dynamic coach and phenomenal recruiter. They had something like the #14 class his first year, #5 last year and #1 class this year. AP has several 3 stars committed and are getting kids that have G5 offers despite them being FCS. His staff is all young but has some NFL experience. His energy is off the charts and he is a change agent for sure. No one would outwork him. Won his conference this year and tied last yeear.
I have a son who has been on visits to P5, G5, and FCS schools and AP blew everyone away with how they do things on gameday visits.
He would have been a bit of a risk as he is just 34 but if VU was looking for an out-of-the-box hire, he's one they should have considered.
