Posted about his defense in another thread yesterday. Here's a video and an article [I watched the video (and cut off the sound as they were interviewing Bill Self most of the time); clearly, Scotty showed off his ability to find the open shooter and feed the post plus showed off his ability to anticipate plays on the defensive end; of course, there were a few plays on which his man got free; and there was his classic step back shot in the lane from 12 feet shooting over the top of a tall defender trying to block his shot: He definitely belonged on the court.]:

NBA Combine Scrimmage 1 Ft. Kenneth Lofton, Scotty Pippen Jr & More

10,133 views May 19, 2022 NC State freshman Smith finished with a game-high 17 points (on 17 shots, for what it's worth) and will be a name to track moving forward as a potential sleeper in this year's draft. The Purdue senior is known as a cerebral big man with advanced passing skills and court vision. He put all of that on display in the first scrimmage, tallying a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds to go with five assists. Even at 6-foot-9, 265 pounds, Williams showed he can grab a rebound, put the ball on the floor in transition and make impressive reads. Toledo's Ryan Rollins plays with a great pace with the ball in his hands. He's a confident dribbler and more shifty and slithery than I realized. He was confident attacking and showed he can do much more than just shoot from the perimeter. Arkansas Jaylin Williams' final stat line of five points, six rebounds and five assists does not do his performance justice. The Arkansas sophomore was the loudest player in the entire gym as his voice echoed around Wintrust Arena on every defensive possession. Vanderbilt's Scottie Pipper Jr. is a pest defensively. He has extremely quick footwork and it felt like he was guarding a full 94 feet the whole scrimmage. Louisiana Tech's Kenneth Lofton Jr. fit right in after earning a call-up from the G League camp earlier this week. Concerns about his body aside, he's a heck of a basketball talent, moves much more swiftly than you would expect, has a solid handle and finished with good touch around the basket.
