I could not let yesterday's news go by absent one final post:

Here are Stute's season numbers from "3":

  • All Games: 74-205, or 36.1.%
  • SEC Home Games: 15-49, or 30.6%
  • SEC Away Games: 17-54, or 31.5%
  • SEC Tourney (Neutral Site) Games: 2-17, or 11.8%
  • All SEC Games: 34-120 or 28.3%
  • Non-Conference Home Games: 16-45, 35.5%
  • Non-Conference Away Games: 13-19, 68.4%
  • Non-Conference Neutral Site Games: 11-21, or 52.4%
  • All Non-Conference Games: 40-85, or 47.1%
  • All Home Games: 31-94, or 33.0%
  • All Away Games: 30-73, or 41.1%
  • All Neutral Site Games: 13-38, or 34.2%
  • All Non-Memorial Gym Games: 43-111, or 38.7%
In my view, his extended slump at the end of the season, inclusive of the SEC Tourney, combined with his body language (fairly or unfairly interpreted by many of us) plus, generally, an unwillingness to get on the floor after loose balls, clearly signaled that something was really "off", or "broken" (more than his shot), with Myles. As much as Myles could have been an asset to the Dores next year if, and only if, he had returned to a 42%-44% shooter from deep, coupled with a change in attitude, I don't believe that that was in any way a realistic expectation.
