Vanderbilt came out swinging. Coleman was robbed on a fine play by the shortstop on a hard hit ball. Wiseman follows and goes yard. Darby Swanson (according to the Kentucky play-by-play man) lines a double to left. Wiel smokes one, but right at the short stop for the second out. Reynolds strikes out on off speed.

Bottom of the first: K, ground out, K.

Top of the 2nd: Toffey doubles to right center. Kendall moves him over to third with a nice sac bunt. Ellison hits a hard ground ball to the short stop, who goes to first, Toffey scores for VU's second run. Campbell grounds out for the third out. 2-0 VU.

Lead off batter for Kentucky gets hold of a fast ball and goes yard to cut the lead in half. Fulmer's string of scoreless innings ends at 24. Next batter walks. Next batter tries to bunt, and fouls it into his chest and goes down. Ouch. Fortunately he is o.k. He bunts successfully next time, and moves the runner to 2nd. One out. Next batter drills one to left for a double, and the game is tied at 2. Next batter laces a single to left, putting runners at the corners and 1 out. Next batter pops up to short right, runners unable to advance. Fly out to center ends the inning.

Coleman is hit by a pitch to start the third, but is quickly erased on a double play from Wiseman. Swanson hits the ball hard again, but right at the shortstop. VU continues to hit the ball hard, just not getting the ball in the holes right now.

Bottom of the third starts with a ground out to Swanson. Next batter hits a sharp single to right. Fulmer tries to pick him off, and throws wild, hitting the runner, and he moves on to 2nd. Fulmer walks the next batter, his third walk of the night, putting runners at first and second and 1 out. Next batter works it to a full count, then singles right up the middle, and Kentucky takes the lead, runners at the corners, and still only 1 out. Fulmer really laboring out there tonight, a rare situation indeed. A tailor-made double play ends the inning.

In the 4th, following a Wiel fly out and Reynolds ground out, Toffey goes yard, the ball bouncing off the top of the wall to tie the game. Kendall singles to center, but is then picked off first. I'm not sure how many times he has been picked off first this season, but it feels like several. Tied at 3, middle of the 4th.

Kentucky, despite hitting a couple of long, hard foul balls, go in order in the 4th.

Ellison, Campbell and Coleman each ground out in the 5th.

Kentucky goes in order in the 5th. Still tied at 3.

In the top of the 6th, Wiseman strikes out, Swanson lines out to right, Wiel strikes out.

Kentucky gets a two out single in the 6th, but that is it.

In the 7th, Reynolds doubles, Toffey hits an infield single, and Kendall is hit by a pitch, loading the bases with no outs. Ellison strikes out. Campbell lines out to short right field for the 2nd out. Coleman with a huge bases clearing double on a 3-2 pitch, and VU leads, 6-3.Wiseman absolutely crushes his 2nd home run of the night, and VU leads 8-3. Swanson grounds out to end the inning.

First batter for Kentucky gets an infield single to start the 7th. Next ball is hit to Toffey, who stays with it and gets the out at first, with the runner at first moving to 2nd. Next batter walks on a very good pitch; could easily have been strike 3. Brown to the mound. Don't know if anyone is up in the pen, but doesn't seem to be. Fulmer at about 103 pitches. Bowden up and throwing, along with someone else, but didn't catch who it was. Pop up to Swanson for out #2. Line drive single juices the bases with 2 outs. Good job by Fulmer in backing up home, as the throw got past Ellison. Corbin on the way out, and that's it for Fulmer. Kyle Wright coming on to pitch. Wright with nasty stuff, striking out Shelby to end the inning.

Top of the 8th. Wiel leads off with a single. Reynolds walks. That's it for the Kentucky starter. Toffey lays down a perfect bunt down the third base line, everyone is safe, bases loaded, no outs. Kendall walks, forcing in a run, making it 9-3. Ellison somehow hits a ball that was about to bounce at the plate, blooping a single, and its now 10-3, still no one out. Campbell gets hit on the ankle, driving in another run, and its now 11-3, still no one out, and there hasn't been a ball hit further than 150 feet. Coleman drills one to left, but the left fielder makes a fine catch for the first out of the inning, sac fly for Coleman, 12-3 VU. Wiseman grounds out to first, another run scores, and its 13-3. Another pitching change for Kentucky. Swanson with an infield single, putting runners at the corners. Nolan Rogers pinch runs for Campbell. Wiel pops up to end the inning. 13-3 VU.

Snider on to pitch for VU. Fly out, pop out, strike out.

In the 9th, Reynolds walks, Toffey walks, Kendall pops up, Ellison flies out to the track, Rogers flies out. McCarty on to pitch the 9th. Ground out, strike out, error, ground out to end it. 13-3 is the final.

I have a prior commitment and will not be available tomorrow night. You all pull them through.
