C: Ty Duvall
1B: Dominic Keegan
2B: Harrison Ray
3B: Austin Martin
SS: Carter Young
LF: Cooper Davis
CF: Tate Kolwyck
RF: Isaiah Thomas
DH: Spencer Jones
SP1: Mason Hickman
SP2: Kumar Rocker
SP3: Ethan Smith
SP4: Jack Leiter
CL: Tyler Brown
A couple of notes:
- Young is struggling with the bat. If that doesn't work out, I think they'll move Austin Martin to short and put Parker Noland at third.
- Duvall is questionable for Opening Day. I think C.J. Rodriguez would start in his spot if he can't go. Rodriguez has been outstanding with the bat, I've been told.
- Keegan also won't be ready for Opening Day, I'm all but positive. In that case, I think Jones plays first and Noland could DH.
- It's a significant surprise not to see Jake Eder as the third starter, or even the fourth. I think they want Eder throwing out fo the bullpen, and I think Ethan Smith has been throwing well. I don't think it's a bad choice at all--that may be the option that makes the team best, because Hugh Fisher isn't expected to pitch this year, and they're short on lefties, and Smith was flat-out fantastic when he pitched last year, but it's kind of a late shift from what the plan had seemed to be for months now.
I'll have a lot more coming up in our individual position previews.
