“I think people underestimate Candice, just because she’s spent her career there,” Ingram told The Athletic of the 41-year-old former Vanderbilt basketball player and administrator who is technically an interim hire. “I mean, I think if you want to be successful at Vanderbilt, you need to understand Vanderbilt. You need to work with Vanderbilt. You can’t be a salmon trying to swim up against the stream. You’ve got to figure out how to work with them. And Candice knows how to do that, No. 1. And No. 2, Candice has the heart for it. I mean, people over there gravitate to her. And I’m talking coaches, student-athletes, staff. There are a lot of people that are really excited for Candice to have that role, and a lot of people that are ready to go to war for her. Including me, by the way. I think a lot of Candice. She’s going to surprise people.”
