Right now, this minute, the Vanderbilt football job is the best it's ever been, including after Franklin. Here's why.

A. The success that Franklin had is still relatively recent. It shows that with the right coach, you can win here. ALL coaches think that they are the right coach, the best coach, so any new coach will think that he can come here and win now.

B. Mason has more or less sucked for six years. But, he got SIX YEARS. That's the kind of patience and stability that's lacking at most schools. That will be attractive to a coach.

C. No one wants VU to be a stepping stone job, no one. But being a stepping stone is better than losing, much better. Franklin's success here, and then moving on to Penn State, shows winning here can get you a better job, if that's what you want. I'll take looking for a new coach every 3-4 years vs what Mason is putting on the field all day long.

D. Money. Vanderbilt will pay decent to good money, and everyone likes money.

E. Nashville. Its not to late, for the right coach with the right personality, to come to Vanderbilt and grow the fanbase in the fastest growing city in the country. People love a winner, and would jump on the bandwagon of an entertaining, well coached team that wins.

F. Malcolm Turner. We have an AD with a vision for sports that none of us have EVER seen on West End. And some coach with a big ego (and most of the successful ones have one), will want part of his legacy to by tied to helping ADMT turn this Vanderbilt football program permanently into something we can all be proud of.

For those of you saying " there is no talent on this team, it will take a new coach x amount of years to yadda yadda yadda", remember this. How many of us thought that after back to back 2-10 seasons, that we had a loaded roster and were about to see the best three year run of Vanderbilt football in modern history?

Exactly, none of us thought that. A good coach can come in here and win next year.

It can happen again, with the right hire. Coaches know this, and again, they all think that they are the man for the job. It's up to ADMT to make a good hire.
