I said in the game thread that I don’t think this is a tournament team and I figured I would explain why here. I think this team has a good group of decent to good players, but I’m not sure there’s an alpha player on this team.
I think we thought Cambridge could be that earlier in the season, but based on how she’s played during the SEC portion of the schedule I don’t think that can be the case. I think shes only had one game shooting over 40 percent in SEC play and might be shooting less than 30 percent overall throughout conference play. I think she’s definitely the leader of the team but she’s not an alpha scorer.
You can see this in full effect in a lot of the games where we’ve gone up against the 6 foot plus alpha scorers such as Frank at Mizzou, Correa at UF, Jackson at UT, Barker at Bama, etc. This team doesn’t have that player. Kamile Pierre is probably the closest to that but she’s only a freshman
