Today, my grand-nephew, Hampton Morris, won the bronze medal in the 61 Kilo men’s weightlifting competition. The VU connection is that, in addition to being the grand-nephew of a 1979 alumnus, and the cousin of several other VU grads, his dad (and coach) earned his chemistry PhD from VU. Hamptom became the first US men’s weightlifting medalist in 40 years, and the youngest in 68 years. At 20 yrs of age, look for even more at the LA Olympics in 2028.
