With some standard "dissing" of VU . . ."the school" and the basketball team as well as a few basketball related items:
"My brother and nephew went to Tennessee. They like to scoff at the Vandy people that tend to pontificate about being an Ivy League school in the SEC. There is lots of academics hurting recruiting talk from them  Remind you of anyone?"
"First only the Ivy League is the Ivy League. Second, Vandy is a heck of a good academic institution. Third, Tennessee has their share of scholars as well.
"Their rivalry reminds me of UNC and Duke. Except Tennessee whips their butt in just about everything but academics and even that's close."
No one should ever, ever, use "higher academic standards" as an excuse for failure unless they have the proof ... by that I mean standardized test scores for the athletes involved, not for general student body. If the numbers were on the table, I would guess that the Vandy and UT test scores would be nearly identical among the eight players with most minutes. Vandy may have a brighter third string."
"Key matchup to watch:
Brandon John's vs Liam Robbins.
Liam is 7' Big 5th yr 10 transfer from Minnesota who started the season splitting time with Vanderbilt's other big, Quentin Milora-Brown.
Robbins has been playing progressively better tha Brown taking away his PT. This is no surprise he was an All Big 10 selection once.
Over the last 4 games Robbins has gone 26-36 (72.2%) from the field, 15.5 ppg. 5.8 rpg, 3.5 bpg. In his first last game vs Fresno state, he had 20 pts, 7 rebounds and 8 blocks in 33 minutes."
