Connor Jones gets the start for UVA tonight after becoming their #1 pitcher when Nathan Kirby went down with the injury earlier this year. He is on full rest with his last start coming on the opening day of the CWS against Arkansas. Looking at the stats, he struck out 106 in 109 innings which is obviously really good. It seems that he does struggle with control at time with 50 walks, 7 wild pitches, and 7 HBP.
UVA will seemingly be without their closer, Josh Sborz, as he threw nearly 60 pitches on Saturday night. So working deep into counts and forcing Jones to throw strikes will be a key in tonight's game. I haven't seen anyone else in the UVA bullpen throw on TV in the CWS, but I like our chances if we have forced a move to their pen by the 6th inning.
