I bet ADMT has been trying to fire Mason since at least the UNLV game, but has been told by the university that he needs the underwriting to do it, and that the university itself won’t underwrite the buyout. They are flippantly telling Turner to go collect the buyout if he wants it so bad.
In other words, each of the times you heard we were going to fire Mason (after UNLV & UK), Turner was ready to pull the trigger, and just assumed he would get the support of the university (like at every other Power 5 institution), and then you hear silence the next day (Sunday) when his assumptions are proven wrong by the BOT, or whomever won’t cut the buyout check.
(In each case, Turner knew we reached a new low water mark that was cause for termination: UNLV was the type of loss that showed Mason has completely lost the team (even if we hadn’t yet been mathematically eliminated from a bowl), and UK mathematically eliminated is from even an APR bowl.)
@Southernpipe Am I close?
