Nobody had been able to differentiate Fulmer's breaking ball from his fastball until last night. Not even close.

A&M seemed to know absolutely everything that was coming, and other than a very small handful of breaking balls their hitters swung at, they laid off all the off-speed stuff and seemed to be waiting for fastballs.

Watch the fastballs that Allemand and Birk hit last night. It's almost like they knew what was coming.

A&M coach Rob Childress was the pitching coach on Team USA last year, so he should be intimately familiar with Fulmer.

A&M is an outstanding hitting team, and give it credit for that. But nobody's made Fulmer look like that all year, not even close. I have a feeling the previous line might have played a big role in what happened last night.
