One key culprit here is that college football ADs by-and-large suck. A long time ago they got suckered into bad contracts that pay coaches not to coach. Now when you want to make a move the pain is so real.
Of course VU has mostly escaped this up until Drew, and now we're all having to suffer as a result of a recency bias. I'm not even that upset about keeping Mason, but the general tide of public opinion is so strong against keeping him that I generally think his job just got even harder. How's he going to recruit with credibility? I honestly dont see why he wants the job anymore.
