There wasn't much to dislike about the defensive performance on Saturday but one thing really stood out to me in the 2nd half. It was clear the Mizzou had all but abandoned the running game and we were rushing the passer with 3-4 guys with an occasional 5 man blitz. My issue comes in that often times we had Butler, Woods/Lealao, and Mitchell as 3 of the 4 rushers. We would flush the QB but the only guy who had a chance to run him down was Weatherly.
I would prefer in clear passing situations that Wynn or Josh Smith enter the game and give some speed from at least 2 of the DL spots. Lock was running around and buying tons of times which put some stress on the secondary.
