The truth that is being missed and revised by many today is...
This team was awful and much worse than anyone wants to admit or remember last year. Period. They were a joke. Do you guys not remember the UK game or the non conf games...Anyone who has coached or played could see the utter futility and lack of a competitive plan or players to execute it.
The fact they pieced together a respectable game vs. ut who was a walking wounded team that ran 3 plays - sort of focused everyone on that moment as promising.
So, the result. The team played much better last night vs a better than typical CUSA oppt. But that just shows how bad things were as a baseline.
It actually leads credibility to both sides of the argument. Those who discuss and see the improvement and expect more and those who say things are so bad it cant get worse and must change.
So my rambling pt is this. Last night really says more about what a disaster last yr was and just how far Mason has to go to get a competitive team. Who is responsible for the hole and who gets how much time to dig out of it or do they have the ability to dig out of it is the question.
