The reasons to watch Vandy hoops are many, but there is one that is above all others. I live for the moments at Memorial when we turn it on and everything comes together, and we break open what was previously a tight game or even trailing and take the lead in a particularly dramatic fashion.
There's a steal or a stop or something that leads to a few good plays and points, and then there's a crescendo. We had that moment the other night when we took control for good in the start of the second half. We hit the high note on the fast break where LaChance gave up a close look to instead laser a pass over to Fisher-Davis on the wing for a crushing three-pointer that essentially broke Bama's back for good.
I thought as he launched it, "he makes it, this place looses it." And sure enough, everyone went bananas. It was sublime. If I were still a sports writer I would have made the whole story about that one moment, or at least the first eight paragraphs.
