LSU hasn't had a true third starter this season. Tigers coach Jay Johnson gave the ball to Nate Ackenhausen, the lefty who hadn't made a start in his 15 appearances this season. The junior shutout the Vols for six innings, striking out seven and allowing four hits and walking none. Ackenhausen's longest outing entering Tuesday was 3⅔ innings. He had thrown more than two innings three times.
