A few quick hit updates on some of the 2022 targets for the Commodores:
Pyron visited Vanderbilt a couple of weekends ago for the Stanford game. He visited Georgia Tech last weekend and is planning to be back in Atlanta this weekend as well. With back-to-back trips to Tech, there is obviously a lot of talk surrounding Pyron and the Yellow Jackets but a decision has yet to be made. Although, a decision is not something Pyron wants to prolong. Vanderbilt is still pushing and is scheduled to have coaches at his game tonight.
Mann also visited West End for the Stanford game. The three-star backed off his commitments to Pitt recently, which shouldn't come as a big surprise. I've been told that Indiana is another school to keep an eye on. Mann visited the Hoosiers this summer and is in the process of setting up an official visit there sometime this fall. Miami, Louisville, and Iowa are other schools that are expressing interest as well.
After visiting Vanderbilt multiple times throughout the spring and summer, Morgan took his official visit with the Commodores the weekend of the Stanford game. While he's hinted that a decision could come soon heading into that visit, it obviously hasn't happened yet and may not happen for a while longer. It could be a situation where Morgan is still waiting to see where this Vanderbilt team as the season continues to progress. Kentucky and Mississippi State are the other schools making a strong push here. Morgan officially visited Kentucky during the summer and was in Lexington for a game earlier this season. He also made a return trip to Mississippi State last weekend for their game against LSU.
Vanderbilt offered Webb back on August 23rd and a handful of other power five programs soon followed suite following his eye-popping stats to start the year. The current East Carolina commit visited Georgia Tech last weekend and is suppose to go to South Carolina this weekend. Tennessee and Louisville appear to the the other schools making an impression on the rising three-star prospect. In other words, it doesn't seem like Vandy will be a player here.
I caught up with Trader the other night after he became Vanderbilt's newest 2022 target on Tuesday. Here is what he had to say about the Commodores.
On his Vandy interest:
"I'm grateful for the offer. Talking it over with the family and trying to decide where will be better for me as a player and a student."
On his interactions with the staff:
"We've had very good conversations and they seem like good people. I have to go on a visit to get to know them more and for them to get to know me more too."
On what they like about his film and skill set:
"They said they like how versatile and athletic I was and they said I could be a big part of their offense and defense."
On future visit plans/dates:
"Due to my football season, unfortunately, no set date yet."
On what he wants to see when he visits Vandy:
"The field, the players, the coaches. I also want to see the town. I've heard Nashville is the place to be."
Trader is currently committed to Central Michigan and told me he isn't hearing from any other schools at the moment.
