The following SEC teams have been eliminated in the Regionals:
#1 Vanderbilt (#1 overall)
#1 Texas (#2 overall)
#1 Georgia (#7 overall)
#2 Florida
#2 Alabama
#3 Mississippi State
#3 Kentucky
The following teams could either be eliminated today or make it to the Supers:
#1 LSU (#6 overall)
#1 Ole Miss (#10 overall)
#1 Tennessee (#14 overall)
#2 Oklahoma
The following teams have advanced to the Supers:
#1 Arkansas (#3 overall)
#1 Auburn (#4 overall)
So the only fanbases who are truly satisfied right now are Arkansas and Auburn.
Oklahoma is probably feeling pretty good.
Kentucky and MSU are not happy, but not surprised.
Everyone else is devastated - or at least majorly disappointed.
I think too much praise was heaped on the SEC throughout the season, and they bought it. By the time conference play ended, I think some teams bought the hype and underestimated their opponents. They lowered their intensity and focus and then got hit in the mouth. When that happened they started panicking and pressing.
I know the computer metrics backed up the notion of SEC supremacy, but it sure hasn't played out the way we (or at least I) expected.
I suppose if all 4 of the SEC teams win today it will salvage the pre-tournament expectations to some extent. But it's likely that 1 will fall (please be Tennessee). If that happens then 50% of the #1 SEC teams will have been eliminated in the Regionals.
