I wonder if it’s possible to determine how much money VU has received from the SEC since 1981.

Most recently, with the deal with ESPN, SEC Network and CBS, in addition to bowl revenue, how much have we received and NEVER put any of that money into anything of substance into facilities?

I found numbers dating back to 2013. Here’s what the SEC distributed by year:

2013: $20.5 million
2014: $25.3 million
2015: $31.2 million
2016: could not locate - est. $35 million
2017: $40.9 million
2018: $43.7 million

The total amount of those distributions is $196.6 million.

So we have received nearly $200 million of SEC sports-related payouts.

Just looking at the Commodore Club, it brought in $3.2 million in 2012-2013. So, it seems that we would have more like $220 million (estimated) counting Commodore Club donations during that time frame.

This does not count any capital campaign or specific donations for facilities.

What kind of facilities upgrades could have been accomplished with $220 million? What about if we just used half of that amount? That’s without ANY fundraising efforts whatsoever. Instead, Williams was set on endowing scholarships. David Williams' lack of leadership has led us to where we are, and we are stuck with a lousy coach and crumbling and embarrassing facilities. That SEC money is GONE. We still have more coming next year, and that will again break an SEC record. When will VU use the SEC money to bring their pitiful facilities up to par?
