After a 10 run outburst in last nights game, the VandyBoys bats went ice cold this afternoon. The good things were 1. Kumar Rocker was “rocking,” and 2. Carlsjr bats were just as cold. Rocker, ended up going 9 perfect innings, striking out 20. The starter for Carlsjr was almost as nasty but allowed 5 walks. The key moment in the game came in the bottom of the 9th. The VandyBoys, not wanting to waste Rocker’s perfect outing and also knowing he wasn’t coming back for a potential 10th inning. Loaded the bases via three errors by Carlsjr. The Gamecock pitcher, rattled by this, threw the next pitch to Harry Ray in the turf, where it rolled all the way to the backstop scoring Dom Keegan from 3rd. The VandyBoys win 1-0, and Rocker has his perfect game. Shades of John Smoltz-Jack Morris from 1991, only this time the good guys won!! The two teams will meet tomorrow for an Easter matchup with the VandyBoys going for the sweep behind Jake Eder.
