For 5 months now, much to the dismay of many gold colored glass fans, myself and others have pointed out the consistent flaws of this team.
1. Lack of any defensive consistency at 3b
2. Inability of bullpen to close games out
3. Ethan pauls struggles throwing balls to 1b
4. Infantes ineptitude to hit with any regularity
5. Corbins borderline defiance to bunt in relatively obvious situations
6. Lack of legit starting pitching
7. Failure to locate 0-2 pitches
8. Last but not least...leaving pitchers in way way way too long unnecessarily when you have other options
Each time those issues were pointed out the common responses ranged from:
How dare you question coach Corbin?
You're just a debbie downer
Everything will be fine, trust the process
Etc
This post is not an i told you so post... ive been wrong many times. However peoples concerns about all problems outlined above are valid as we saw tonight. Mistakes are greatly exaggerated on the big stage and tonight wasn't pretty as a result.
Now...having said all that, they can shake it off and respond in a big way tomorrow. If the above issues surface again tomorrow you can cancel your trip to omaha.
