This was a bad loss against currently the team with the worst league record. Missouri is absolutely a team we should beat on our home court, but we did not. And the Missouri game - the worst of the season for VU- was on the heels of the absolute best performance of the year at Kentucky for the women’s team . So what happened ? At the end of the season, I think we will look back on this game as an aberration. We are a guard led team with Chambers and Moore, both of whom had a bad game against Missouri. They were a combined 4 of 17 from the field against Missouri. I don’t expect that to happen very often. Missouri is not that quick, and it was not their defense that stopped our guards ; we just missed a lot of shots we normally make. On the defensive side, our perimeter defense was atrocious as it was early in the season against the non conference schedule. That has to be cleaned up and I expect Coach will get it corrected. Also, we didn’t have the eye of the tiger and uncharacteristically flat out choked in the forth quarter. With a veteran backcourt, we have been very steady and dominant at the end of games until the Missouri game . Barring injury, I don’t think we will choke like that very often. Jordyn Chambers is just too steady for that to happen very often. So despite a subpar performance, I remain optimistic about this team .
