With Nate Johnson having committed to Michigan, and a huge need to recruit receivers for a passing game, who are we, or should we be, promoting to wide receiver, and all offensive prospects for that matter, as the future quarterback who can make it all happen?
Will it be Shurmur or is Deuce is in the mix for the immediate future? Shurmur's arm strength seems to be a concern but he does seem to have an intangible about him that gives confidence in his ability to manage the game if he's the guy. Many thought Stank was the best of the bunch last year but, of course, we never got to see what he could do due to his injury. If Deuce is our savior, then what skill-set does he bring that is better than what we have with the other guys? One has to think that McCrary's had his chance and that Freebeck may see better opportunities elsewhere.
It just seems that a team needs to feature a competent quarterback in order to sell the opportunity to be part of a good offense to recruits (much like running backs are attracted at least in part by a capable offensive line). How, and with which quarterback, do we sell the opportunity to recruits?
