The conversation about the difficulty of evaluating high school quarterbacks made me go look up UGA's past few recruiting classes and the problem's they are having at that position this year. Richt has always had a good reputation developing qbs and of course has put a few in the NFL and thus usually has his pick of top recruits. The last few classes have not panned out leaving them with a grad transfer from UVA (Lambert) and UGA fans waiting next year for a five star recruit to arrive. Here are his his commitments since 2011 (Rivals star ratings):
2011 - Christian LeMay (4*) - one of top pro style prospects with offers from everyone. Transferred and is now backup qb at Jacksonville State.
2012 - Faton Batua (3*) - other offers include Bama, Miami and Vandy. Currently 3rd string qb
2013 - Brice Ramsey (4*) - offers from Bama, Clemson, FSU, UF - Current backup who has played some but cannot beat out Lambert.
2014 - Jacob Park (4*) - offers from Bama, Auburn, FSU, ND - 4th string qb after spring and transferred to Juco.
Of course, UGA has enough talent elsewhere to hide some of their qb deficiencies but thought it was an interesting comparison and I imagine other schools have similar "droughts" in their qb selections.
