As it is in recruiting every year, quarterbacks are typically the first to commit due to the limited number of spots. In addition to Deuce Wallace, Vanderbilt was in pursuit of Josh Newman and Chaz Surratt as of last week. Well, Deuce Wallace decommitted from Northwestern and committed to Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt was leading for Newman, but Vanderbilt's QB spot was taken by Wallace. Newman then committed to Wake Forest. Today, Chaz Surratt who was also considering Vanderbilt committed to Duke. It all unfolded pretty quickly.
