Vanderbilt at No. 9 Purdue (West Lafayette, Indiana), 8 p.m., Big Ten Network, Tuesday: The Commodores travel to Purdue for the first time since the 1929-30 season. It can no longer be billed as the battle of the frontcourts after Vanderbilt 7-footer Luke Kornet suffered a torn MCL in his left knee and will miss at least another month of action. Kornet led the team in blocked shots, so now instead of matching Purdue’s pair of 7-footers, Damian Jones will be left on his own. The Boilermakers look to bounce back from their first loss of the season. As well as freshman forward Caleb Swanigan played against Butler (25 points, 11 rebounds), Purdue can’t afford for him to have seven turnovers again.
Prediction: Purdue 73, Vanderbilt 71

I will take the close game projected here because that gives us a chance . . . .
