Due to a bunch of things, I spent my summer debating on whether or not to continue the podcast. After a lot of prayer, consultation with friends, conversations with sponsors, etc., I have decided to do it for another year and launched the first episode of "Season Six" today.
I want to very much thank my sponsors who have stuck with me for years and support the idea of independent journalism.
I would like to issue a special thank-you to my long-time guys. Those guys are Taylor Sutherland and Russell Belk of Sutherland & Belk, Scott Tannen of Boll & Branch and independent insurance agent Josh Minton. All have been with me for the long haul and all have been supportive even at times when I've said some unpopular things. That's something that means more to me right now than it ever has. Without their support, I never would have considered going forward.
I also want to give a huge thank-you to Jody Jones DDS. His decision to come aboard as title sponsor last week is what pushed me over the edge to continue for next year. Jody walked on to the football team and is a booster now, and his mom, Lucy Jones, worked at Vanderbilt for about 40 years.
All these guys did this out of the goodness of their hearts. If you would do me one favor, please reach out to each of them and let them know you appreciate their support of my podcast. I won't publish their email addresses here out of respect for them (and also, because I didn't ask them if I could do so) but I think you can easily Google them and send them a note of appreciation.
Now, for the content.
I am probably going to do two podcasts a week until football season. (It might even be one in some weeks.) Once football starts, I am going to bet back in the swing of things with a weekly lineup of guests. They are:
- Mitch Light at The Athletic (Mondays)
- Norman Jordan--VU football color commentator (We'll record Monday night and air on Tuesday)
- Kevin Ingram--VU sideline announcer and also VU's SEC Network guy for hoops and midweek baseball
- Seabass-WNWS in Jackson, Tennessee (record Wednesday afternoon, air it on Thursday)
- George Plaster--Nashville Sports Radio (we'll podcast Thursday and probably air Friday)
I may give guests a break every now and then (especially if football gets brutal) but that'll basically be my lineup.
Thank you to all for your support and the kind words on the podcast. I am really happy to be doing this for another year.
