NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia has been added to the Manning Award Watch List.

Pavia is one of 14 additions to the list by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, which manages the award. It is presented annually to the nation's top quarterback and is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in its balloting.

Pavia has led No. 25/25 Vanderbilt to a 5-2 start, its best since 2008, as well as the program's first top-25 ranking since the end of the 2013 season.

The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native is 12th among FBS quarterbacks in passing efficiency and 19th in yards per completion. He leads SEC quarterbacks with 470 rushing yards and engineered the team's first win in program history over the nation's top-ranked team on Oct. 5 against Alabama.

Pavia has already been named to the Maxwell Award Watch List and at various points chosen as player of the week by the Manning Award, Davey O'Brien Award, Maxwell Award and SEC.

The Commodores hunt for their second top-five victory on Saturday when No. 5/6 Texas visits FirstBank Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m. on SEC Network.
