CLARK LEA

Georgia had 4 yards on average on 3rd downs, Vandy was at 8

When Vandy scored, it didn’t have a 3rd down on the series (referring to the first drive)

Seals’s interception hurt, they needed at least 3 in that spot

The 2-point conversion had a shot to get them within a score and then Georgia scored too easily on the next drive

Aspects of Seals’s game were good, that’s something they can build on

They’ll never accept anything other than winning

They’ve got to maximize the bye week and get healthy

THIRD DOWNS, WHAT WERE THE ISSUES

Will need to look at the tape more but…

They wanted to make them drive the whole field today and they did that sometimes today

But on execution part he needs to see more of tape, though some of it was rush-lane integrity on defense

On offense, they’ve got to get into more manageable third downs

Two of their conversion attempts were inside four yards on the whole day

A third-and-2 became third-and-7

They’ve got to clean it up

KEN SEALS, HAS HE DONE ENOUGH TO STAY THE STARTER?

He did a good job managing the game today

Not looking to make a statement on the situation today

They’ll reassess after the bye

Thought he played well, had good decisions, got them into good plays

CJ TAYLOR INJURY

Tips his cap to him for a gutsy performance

They’ll get him imaged and get him more information

Hopefully he’ll be back

THE TIPPED BALL REPLAY, WHAT WAS HE UPSET ABOUT?

The play, how the play was ruled, the mechanics of the replay… it’s fighting for every blade of grass

Thought it was a remarkable job but he didn’t get a great look on the board

Part of his responsibility is to fight for his team in that moment and that’s what he’s doing

QUESTION ABOUT THE FAILED OPPORTUNITY TO GET POINTS AND KICKING WITH BORCILLA

They had a conversation about it because the wind was in play

Hit it well but not well enough

They were just looking for points

Said he couldn’t remember how much they had to gain, thought it was 6-7 yards (my note: I think he’s correct, I remember it as 7)

ALLOWING 500 or SO YARDS THE LAST 3 GAMES, WILL THEY CHANGE PLAY-CALLERS

That’s not where his head is

There are elements where they played better and kept the ball in front of them

Then there were times where they had breakdowns in execution, for instance, the plays at the end of the half. They “should have had that all the way.”

His attention will be on teaching and learning and getting player to play with confidence

They’ve exacerbated their secondary depth

ASKED ABOUT BEING MORE COMPETITIVE WITH GEORGIA, WHAT CAN YOU TAKE FROM THAT IN TERMS OF ENCOURAGEMENT?

He takes nothing from that right now. We’re here to win and right now he doesn’t feel any better

Yes, they’ve improved and he sees that but their margins are razor thin

Their play hasn’t been consistent enough to have success

Talked about the three-game stretch earlier in the season with nine turnovers and how it makes you question things you know to be true, that it’s disorienting

Now things are settling in a little bit and he’s seeing they have young guys who can play

Thinks there’s a good team in there that can play in a manner to win games

They can do that

They need to keep progressing forward

BYE WEEK

They need to get recovered physically

Starting Week 0 it’s been a challenging game

They had all kinds of soft tissue issues in fall camp and it feels like there’s a lag effect there

They’re hoping resting De’Rickey Wright today in combo with next week will help

Want to get young players scrimmage experience

Focus will be on recovery

There’s a mental and a physical and emotional recovery
