Great chance to honor seniors at the last home game
Bouncing back from a tough game at Ole Miss, excited for a chance to have best performance
INJURIES
Truedell Berry, Willl Sheppard, CJ Taylor, AJ Swann—questionable
Sheppard’s injury
It is an upper body injury, happened Saturday, couldn’t finish the game
Discomfort there could impact his ability
What’s the state of the locker room?
Everybody’s frustrated
Ole Miss’s first scoring drive, a route got behind them and they couldn’t catch him
Outtara had a chance for a scoop and score and “it didn’t bounce our way on that one.”
Offensively they missed an opportunity on the first drive and a mistake was part of that
When they were struggling offensively they went to Walter Taylor
When they can’t possess the ball they take on too much water and by half they were 26 points behind
Feels like they fought in the second half but it wasn’t enough and wasn’t soon enough
They’ve talked about course-corrections sooner
Not reaching results is hard on everybody; their challenge to coaches and team is stay connected to an identity
Adversity is time for growth, sometimes you need to change and evolve
They won’t be victimized by lack of results but it’s not smooth sailing right now
AJ Swann recovery
He’s frustrated, he wants to play
They’re trying to find the answer with respect to what they want to do in practice
That’s what he’s focused on, getting healthy
Internally he’s frustrated and wants to be out there
They’ll see what that looks like this week
If he’s healthy would he still be third on the depth chart
I wouldn’t say that
We had him at 2 and he got hurt
Taylor benefitted from that
Hard to answer specifically
AJ might getting healthier
The “or” at starting QB
It wasn’t about Ken’s performance
They were looking to find energy with Taylor
A lot of the success they had in the second half was in the run game
It’s about grinding out clock and that takes pressure off defense
The 3-and-outs are killers
I would not handle it differently; though Ken wasn’t playing poorly
Doesn’t want to tip his hand for Saturday
Was that a decision to get the running attack going with Walter?
They’re trying to extend drives and take advantage of momentum
They were having trouble handling twists and some things up front
There wasn’t a lot of space on the perimeter
They had planned to get Walter in the game regardless
Having to defend all 11 positions opens up space for the backs
Do you approach QB differently since Auburn uses 2 QBs and Auburn has experience defending that system
Understands the question but no, that’s not part of it
Missed tackles, is that coaching or execution
Falls on coaching and execution and fundamental technical expertise
You need to build structure to build space and then execute the tackling/teaching them to eliminate space earlier in the down
First play of the game, Tyson Russell got isolated, he closed the space and made a tackle
Later, he was a little slower to finish and instead of 2nd and 6 it was 2nd and 3 and that’s an example of a difference
