Looking forward to Florida
For them, chemistry developed around the QB position and that’s encouraging
Defensively, was disappointed with their communication and alignment vs. Missouri
That starts with him and the coaching staff
They aren’t happy with where they are
But they need to find encouragement from where they’re growing in the program
Excited for the next chance at Florida
INJURIES
OL Grayson Morgan questionable (Back)
LB Kane Patterson (out—they think he can return after the bye week after seeing making)
(Bryce Cowan will play WLB now)
CB BJ Anderson—soft tissue—questionable
WR London Humphries questionable
QB AJ Swann available, they’re monitoring
CL Christian James will get increased reps after playing LW
DB Jaylen Mahoney questionable, couldn’t practice today
KEN SEALS
“Really proud of him, thought the performance was gutsy and confident”
He responded well after the interception
Talked about his remarks had circulated after the game
Football is something he does but not totally representative of him as a person and he likes that balance
Thinks that’s a model for some of his other guys
In football you have adversity, how you fight through that matters
That defines what Ken has done
It’s neat to see him out there
He can build on that performance
He’s led through experience and ups and downs
ON QB PRESSURES
Sometimes they couldn’t win 1-on-1s
Sometimes they need to step u in the pocket
When you try to escape on the edge you run into the rush
If they climb the pocket the protection should hold; cited the TD to Sherrill
On the whole he was pleased with the offense
In the middle stretch
SLOW STARTS OFFENSIVELY, IS THERE A COMMON DENOMINATOR OR FIX?
2nd possession, the signature of that drive is they got rhythm on first and second down
2nd and 10 they ran a jet sweep, Skinner threw a nice block, then they went tempo and hit Skinner with 2 straight passes
Then Ken pulled it for the TD
The reason he brings that up: That’s their 2nd possession and it was little things done well, getting rhythm, using tempo to apply pressure
They can’t wait on the play to give them confidence
1st and 2nd-down efficiency is big for them
Telling stat was third downs; they had operational penalties twice there
They got quick big plays after the 4th-and-4 stop
And they’ve shown they can do that
QB THIS WEEK
Day by day
They have 2 guys capable
They’re first looking to AJ’s health
They’ll make the best decision for the team, it makes no sense to make that decision Tuesday
But they did find a rhythm Saturday
No matter who’s out there they know the system
IMPROVEMENTS IN THE RUN SINCE WAKE, WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED?
Structure wins
Against Wake they didn’t tackle well
When they’re in their base structure they play well
KY failures were structural breakdowns
There’s a better performance in there defensively because of that
MO had a long run at the end of the half when they were protecting against a long throw and those you expect
Right now they’re solid in their structure, when they aren’t they allow too much space
When they’re on the same page al the problems with space that have given them issues have been eliminated
PREPARING FOR NOISE AT FLORIDA
They have noise, they got some new stacks in that’ll help with that
Playing in a loud environment is about chemistry
