Congrats to Missouri, they played better than we played

14-play drive ate up a lot of time

Vanderbilt had a stretch with four punts covering 14 snaps

They ran out of steam on defense playing too many snaps

Their tackling was exposed

There are elements of their game they need to control better, like procedural penalties

When you play a good defense, you can’t make 3rd-and-4 into 3rd-and-9 with a penalty

How do they take some air out of the clock to keep the game in reach?

AJ SWANN, KANE PATTERSON, LONDON HUMPHRIES

AJ didn’t get enough reps in practice this week, but he was available

London has an ankle injury, he’s fighting through it, hopefully available next week

Kane, they’ll get us an update Monday

BURDEN TD ON A SAFETY, WAS THAT PART OF THEIR PLAN

They were beaten against their leverage

You funnel that play back into your help

They have to win on the outside edge there

They had to help there

If you can pitch it to the sideline, you make the margins smaller

On the first one, he thought they had a play on the ball but he’ll have to see film

But feels they can leverage that better

KEN SEALS

Really proud of Ken

Need to look at where they missed in that stretch

The three-and-outs hurt, so did the pick

But he’s proud of him

He created, like the play on the goal line where he ran for a score

The deep ball to Sherrill was as good a deep ball as he’s seen him throw

He’s a warrior and he’s really proud of him and “totally representative of the program we’re building.”

He’s been committed through a lot of adversity and committed to his teammates

Brings a spirit of connection to the team

He’ll be wildly successful

Not many people have the resolve and resilience he has

“As of today he’s our starting quarterback.”

WHEN DID HE MAKE THAT DECISION?

Early in the week

They need to prepare and practice

They can’t get that done with AJ this week

Thought the offense was run pretty well

WALTER TAYLOR

They got him some game experience and he may have an opportunity going forward

WAS THE ISSUE ON PRESSURE ON KEN HOLDING THE BALL BUT ON THE OL

He’ll have to see the film

They have to be disciplined on their approach, there are three elements: QB progression, WR routes and OL

The last fourth down was a challenge

MO has a good defensive front

OFFICIAL VISITORS THIS WEEKEND, WHAT’S THE MESSAGE THERE?

They didn’t choose them because they’re jumping into something ready-made

They know they’re not at the level they want to be and have to squeeze more out of their performance

They see young guys making plays and are excited about the impact they can make

They don’t sell something they’re not

They’re a work in progress like the stadium but there is a vision for where they’re headed

Every day, up until that moment, they’re experiencing things that will deliver them

The pain and frustration is part of the journey to be the great program they can become

HE’D TALKED ABOUT LACK OF SPIRIT, WAS THAT THERE?

Yes, saw more of that

The results not winning football but it’s the attitude they want to take forward

There was more for them today but they couldn’t sustain drives and tackle in space

There were several freshmen at corner and linebacker

He did feel the energy and fight were reflective of what they want to be

Now they have to clean up execution
