Jonathan Vastine and Troy LaNeve, are they hurt?

Vastine training, not quite ready to go full speed
Freshman pitchers
Dutkanych is aggressive, pitches aggressively
Got comfortable after 1st inning vs. ASU
Other kids have not thrown a ton
Greyson Carter
He’s done a lot with his delivery, he’s worked hard on that and his body
Off-speed stuff is better, he’s not a finished product but the breaking stuff is better
Still work to do
Good velocity, has a chance to be a good power pitcher
Command, getting to front side of count need work
Alan Espinal
He’s coming along as a hitter, has made improvements
Played with a championship team this summer
Loves the game, loves the team, loves the training, he’s working all the time
His story to get here is unique
Hitting is coming along
His barrel flashes, he’s just got to make more contact
Taught himself to speak English by watching cartoons
Had such a strong desire to be here he made things happen as a junior and senior that weren’t easy
This while he learned English and his parents spoke minimal English
Very much self made
Dutkanych, what’s the story on him getting 80
AD probably have picked 84
There was another kid who wore 80 who was pretty good too, not to compare the two
ASU scrimmages, there was some power, where is the team in that regard?
Not sure
What was good Sunday was putting the ball in the middle of the field and running the bases
Thinks they run bases well and they take pride in that
They have a chance to play fast, the kids move well
McKenzie/Bradfield/Polk all move well

He’s improved and more comfortable
Playing like he belongs
Trains well
Grateful for how he operates here, always in a good mood, happy kid
Fun to watch
He’s better offensively, hitting the ball the other way and with 2 strikes
Got a lot of ABs this summer
Owen and Cunningham
They’re just started throwing again
Hewett not starting
No story, he’s playing well, is a good player, can only put nine out there
Kids just like him are pretty good
He got to play a fair amount the other day
RJ Austin at first
We needed someone to do it
Noland has done it
Velazquez has played 1st and 3rd
He’s quick at 1st
His reaction to the baseball is a lot like Austin Martin’s when it’s hit
Throws the ball well, has a strong arm, could probably play all 3 OF positions
For the time being that’s a good spot for him to learn, it’s more about just catching rather than catching and throwing
HIs AB vs Samford that went for a double, what’s that say
It was against their closer, 12 pitches, fouled off 3 FB and then a breaking ball and then a FB that he hammered
Showed competitiveness to put the ball in play
He doesn’t give in with two strikes so far
Has been very competitive in hitting
Cade Law playing catcher after being a potential D1 QB recruit
He’s a leader, you can see QB in him in how he communicates and reacts
His personality can make him a leader
Well raised and mature
Handles his business well

Tate Kolwyck is a good comp—was organized, mature, strong academically, loved people
If you’re a good QB and leading others it’s because you care about others
Older pitchers who haven’t thrown
They’ll most likely pitch after fall is over vs. hitters
Pitchers have to have a spell of time to put down the ball—Reilly will start soon
Hliboki, Doolin
Hliboki was close to throwing last weekend against their hitters
Doolin may be later
Hliboki was a silver bullet before, you used him wherever he could because he threw strikes
It’s about durability, you have to be mindful of where they’ve been
If they were staters by April or May, that could happen
It’s hard to predict those guys, Owen, etc.
Hiboki throws strikes in his bullpens, the misses are small and not big, which is what you’d expect from a young pitcher, plus, he’s stronger
Holton/Futtrell
Looking good, not doing too much mound work, will most likely do more work in December
