We are dead last in conference play in both total offense and total defense per game- for every year in Lea's tenure, 3 years in a row. Looking back the last fifteen years, I only see 2010 and 2019 as single years we were able to achieve this, both lame duck coach years.
Mayo has a 3 peat on this achievement. Unprecedented.
He's done this with an average class ranking of 44 for his classes. Mason's classes averaged 52nd during his 7 years, yet with considerably better stats. Lea's 2022 class is 2nd highest ranked recruiting class ever at 32nd, 2nd only to Franklins 2013 class. Still even with more talent, he's done less.
Of course he should be fired, but I don't see how you see this data and don't at LEAST fire both coordinators. Somehow i think he's going to pull some BS and only fire Howell. My irrational hope is someone reading this can be in Lea's ear that he's got to clean house staff wise.
